🇧🇷 On August 25, EuCARE partners gathered at UFMG, for a dedicated PAIS meeting.

On August 25, EuCARE partners gathered prestigious seat of the Faculty of Medicine of UFMG, Belo Horizonte, for a dedicated Post Acute Infection Syndrome (PAIS) meeting.

Julia Caporali (UFMG), Dario Corsini (EuResist), Francesca Incardona (EuResist), Jorge Pinto (UFMG) and Flavia Faleiro (UFMG) talked about the ongoing studies and perspectives.
🔹 PAIS is attracting interest after the emergence of relevant Post acute syndrome after COVID-19 infection (PASC). A number of open questions have drawn the attention of our scientists.
🔹 Within EuCARE, UFMG is leading this effort with the realisation of a review study comparing PASC with PAIS caused by other respiratory viruses, which is presently under review.
🔹 UFMG has also developed, in collaboration with UCL, a study protocol to evaluate the incidence of PAIS which has been presented to the Cohort Coordination Board, involving representatives from the other European cohort projects, the EU, the WHO. UFMG has started patients’ enrolment

The EuCARE delegation was warmly welcomed by the director of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr Alamanda Kfoury and visited the infectious diseases unit facilities in the luxurious environment of the Brazilian city.
