The EuCARE clinical cohorts have enrolled over 50,000 patients.

The clinical cohorts studies have been set up to evaluate the association between circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants and the risk of developing short, mid and long-term clinical outcomes.

The three cohorts part of the clinical studies are the hospitalised patients with COVID-19 (Hospitalised) cohort, the long-term sequelae of COVID-19 symptoms after the acute infection (Post-COVID) cohort and the Health Care Workers (HCW) cohort.

The EuCARE laboratory network performs the required virological and immunological assays to answer the key questions on SARS-CoV-2 variants, including the issues of escape from vaccination or natural immunization with another variant and that of detectability by specific diagnostic systems.

Overall a total of 8,908 samples were collected to date and are available for these studies in EuCARE library of variants.

In the EuCARE school study 3,373 students and teachers, representing 437 classes from various schools were enrolled and included in the project.
